Helldivers 2’s latest patch has helped boost player numbers as well as greatly improving how players feel about the game. As you might expect, this has helped Arrowhead’s developers, with one recently saying that morale at the studio has been “much, much better.”
Previously, Arrowhead CCO Johan Pilestedt explained that the studio had difficulty maintaining a positive spirit while receiving criticism from players about the direction of the game’s changes, writing: “It’s a tricky situation. The criticism is valid, but morale is low, and when morale is low, progress slows down.”

Thankfully, things sound a lot rosier in a recent response provided by Arrowhead community manager Twinbeard to a player asking about the topic on Helldivers 2’s Discord server. Morale is “much, much better” with the latest patch and the arrival of Chemical Agents Warbond, he wrote.
“Many of our colleagues have felt sad or frustrated that we have been rushed or unable to fully accommodate player-based feedback, which is of course understandable,” they wrote. “Personally, and I think many of my Arrowhead colleagues would agree, it feels as if we’ve been given a rare opportunity to continue the great work and develop the game where we are now rather than in the middle of August.
“Are things like crunch still happening in the context of what we promised to do? Absolutely. But we’re in a much better position now in terms of the game and in the long run what we’re doing is what we’re doing right now is us and the game, And it will benefit all players.”
They then added in a separate post: “Honestly, if you sugarcoat it, it feels good. I and we are still stressed, there’s no denying it, but again, we’re on a better path. Now, in many ways, we’re in the long-term (in the short-term, things are still busy).”
Well, that’s it for now. It’s not just players getting a better feel for Helldivers 2 as they get to ground themselves on the new space station.
