As the war between Israel and Hamas continues for 15 months with no end in sight, airstrikes have been launched in the northern and central Gaza Strip.
Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 12 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip as the war between Israel and Hamas continues for 15 months with little real progress on a ceasefire agreement.
One attack was carried out in the Jabaliya area in the northern Gaza Strip. It is the most isolated and most devastated area where Israel has launched brutal attacks since early October.
Gaza’s health ministry said seven people, including one woman and four children, had died.
Another attack struck the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza overnight, killing two people, according to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) ordered residents to evacuate the area overnight, claiming it would launch airstrikes in response to rocket fire by Palestinian militants.
Three people were killed in a third strike in the southern city of Khan Yunis on Wednesday morning, according to the nearby Nasser Hospital and European Hospital, which received the bodies.
The IDF claimed that Khan Younis’ attack in X killed commander Abd al-Hadi Sabah, “one of the leaders who infiltrated the kibbutz during the October 7 massacre.”
They added that Sabah has also led and developed numerous terrorist attacks against IDF forces throughout the current war.
The war between Israel and Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip began on October 7, 2023, after Hamas attacked southern Israel, killing about 1,200 people and taking about 250 hostages.
About 100 hostages are still held in Gaza, and at least a third of them are believed to be dead.
More than 45,000 Palestinians have been killed in air and ground attacks in retaliation for Israeli attacks, according to Gaza’s health ministry, which does not distinguish between civilians and militants.
The Israeli military has insisted the attacks only target militants and has blamed Hamas for the civilian deaths because its fighters operate in densely populated residential areas. The military said it had killed 17,000 militants, without providing evidence.
The war has taken a huge toll on the Gaza Strip, turning about 90% of its 2.3 million people into refugees.
American and Arab mediators spent nearly a year trying to broker a ceasefire and hostage release, but efforts were repeatedly stalled by conflicting demands from both sides.
Hamas has called for a lasting ceasefire, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledging to continue fighting until “complete victory” is achieved over the militants.
