One of South African rugby’s most successful backline exports has reportedly been forced to retire due to injury.
According to French media team, Springbok winger Raymond Rhule is at risk of retiring from professional rugby due to an Achilles injury.
Rhule, a two-time Investec Champions Cup winner with La Rochelle, ruptured his Achilles tendon during pre-season training in August 2023.

Although he was initially expected to recover within five months, his recovery and rehabilitation were full of setbacks. Rhule played his last match against Castres in April 2024.
The 32-year-old, along with fellow Bok Dillyn Leyds, helped La Rochelle secure back-to-back Champions Cup titles (2022 and 2023) and opened 2022 with a win over Leinster.
Rhule won all seven Bok caps in 2017 and has also represented the Junior Springboks, Cheetahs, Stormers and Grenoble.
