Breen is one of 35 players who coach Scott Beamand will trim down to 30 for the trip to Canada, and the 25-year-old believes she is in perfect condition to board the plane to Vancouver.
“I’ve had a good pre-season, I’ve worked hard and I’ve played against Interpros so I think I’ll be in good shape for this campaign and I can give my best.”
The team includes 10 players who have never played for the national team before, as well as five sevens players who returned from the Paris Olympics.
Breen explained that as a result, Ireland were mainly focused on developing their own playing style in the lead up to the match against Australia.
“When you start a new campaign, there are a few new faces, which is normal, so everyone has a chance and the first few days are just about networking,” she said.
“Australia is a team that loves to play and so do we, but we are focused on ourselves and what we want to do.
“Whatever Australia throws at us, we’ll have our own game plan. We’ve got to seize our opportunities and use our offense as a weapon, and our defense as a weapon.”
