Payne’s father, Jeff PayneAccording to a press release, there is an update on the investigation by Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office. Geoff Payne has been in Argentina since the weekend and visited the hotel where Payne died.
The Crown Prosecution Service told Geoff Payne a toxicology report was still pending. Another study is also underway to determine if Payne was sick at the time of his death. These tests, conducted as part of Payne’s autopsy, must be completed before the singer’s body can be released, officials said.
Investigating a few hours ago Payne’s Death Prosecutors said the case was still ongoing. CBS News previously reported that police responded to Payne’s hotel after receiving an emergency report that an “aggressive male possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol” had “jumped from the balcony of his room.” Officials have not confirmed whether Payne jumped intentionally or accidentally. Investigators said his room was a mess, with what appeared to be drugs and alcohol among the broken items and furniture.

ABC News and TMZ, citing anonymous sources familiar with preliminary testing, reported the following drug mixture: “Pink Cocaine” The substances, which contain methamphetamine and ketamine, were discovered during a partial autopsy, but officials have not released preliminary test results.
Prosecutors said they were conducting an evaluation of electronic devices at the scene and had collected “numerous statements” from hotel staff, medical experts and others to “reconstruct the victim’s final hours.”
Prosecutors said in a press release that any information regarding Payne’s death will be released only through official channels.
