With the recent EP release ‘ghost town’Nigerian indie pop powerhouse SOLIS4EVR It takes the listener on a dizzying journey through the complex emotions that can be experienced when dealing with a broken heart.
A six-track collection filled with thrilling guitar riffs, pulsating rhythms, and 80s-inspired synths. ‘Abek’ The singer has crafted a series of catchy indie pop bop that set the all-too-familiar doom and gloom that accompanies a breakup against uptempo instrumentals and bouncy lyrical anthems full of hope, proving that there really is life. The other side of heartache.
About the addictive extended play, SOLIS4EVR says:‘ghost town’ This is a world I created as a way to be liberated from my life. It’s a dark and delicate story, but the cool thing about being a creator is the ability to bend and shape things. So I turned something dark into something fun, pop, and danceable. It is my gift to myself and the world. “I hope it can be as healing to others as it was to me!”
Ahead of this week’s launch, we SOLIS4EVR To find out the truth ‘ghost town’…
Congratulations on the launch of ‘ghost town’ – How does it feel to put new music out into the world?
Thank you very much! I’m very excited to be releasing music again. It’s something I don’t take for granted at all because it’s taken so much time to get here.
How do you think your new music compares to the tracks on your debut EP? ‘Stairway to Heaven’?
I would say they are in a different world because I have grown and changed so much since then and am back to who I truly am. When I look at the new album, I can feel how mentally free I am and how stable I am with myself and my sound. I’ll always be grateful for the old records that got me this far, but I’m so excited for the world to hear the new records.
Tell us about your creative process when creating new music.
I often write when I’m feeling emotional, and sometimes when I’m working with a producer, the beats inspire me to write, but one thing that’s consistent is that I always tap into my innermost self. . Self-reflection is key.
Where is your favorite place to write?
I can write from anywhere in the world. Physical space doesn’t really matter because I’m not here anyway.
Are you more interested in creating when you’re happy or sad?
Of course, when you’re sad, there’s so much to say at that time (laughter).
Your music covers a variety of genres, from pop to alternative soul and indie rock. How do you best describe your sound?
transcendental pop; But in reality, I am just a pop star who cannot be confined to one mold.
SOLIS4EVR x Dreamer Isioma – ‘sorry 4 Calling’ (Official Visualizer)
we absolutely love ‘I’m sorry for calling you’ One of the standout tracks on the EP! You’ve turned the narrative on its head and put a fresh, quirky spin on a traditional breakup song. What prompted you to write the song from that perspective?
The way I approach songwriting is to try to be as honest as possible. It can also be therapeutic when you directly address the people/feelings responsible for your writing. It brings all the emotions to the forefront.
Musically, there is a real feeling of hope that offsets the emotion behind the lyrics. Do you think making this single was quite a cathartic experience?
In fact, writing this album was very cathartic and a very intentional move to juxtapose the upbeat and whimsical nature of the beats with the lonely lyrics. Otherwise, it’s an unfortunate, funny, silly, dance-worthy situation!
How do you want listeners to feel when they hear the track? And what advice would you give to someone who has been ghosted?
I hope that as they dance, they get rid of all their negative thoughts and find themselves in a temporary state of swelling where the pain does not exist or where the pain can be released into freedom.
The single features special guest vocals from Dreamer Isioma. How did that collaboration come about?
I’ve been a fan of Dreamer for a while and when I thought of possible collaborators, they were one of the first people on my list. So I met these people on Instagram, and they were down. Voila!
Looking back, have you always dreamed of becoming a singer/recorder? Which artist/musician (if any) inspired you to get into music?
That’s all I know. The first memories of my life were of music. I’ve known since I was a baby. Of course it’s Beyonce. Also Hannah Montana. I really wanted to be a Disney kid haha.
You recently signed a new contract with Troniq Music. How does it feel to make HERstory the first female artist to sign to the label?
I feel blessed and honored, and feel a responsibility to lead the way in continuing to create a legacy for both myself and my record label. There is so much to do!
What do you want to achieve in 2024?
I can’t wait to go on a trip. In different cities, countries and continents. What I want to occupy most is the physical space of music. Being able to meet people who have been touched by my music, bridge that gap, and connect with them. I can’t wait for it all.
