Jurgen Klopp and Sir Alex Ferguson have a lot in common. Both have won the Premier League and Champions League, and both are considered legendary figures at the north-west England club.
But there is one unavoidable difference between the two directors, as highlighted in a Paul Joyce article in The Times.
A source who spoke to the reporter about the departing Liverpool manager said: “Undoubtedly, the relationship means more than trophies to Jurgen. He truly loves his players. He’s not ruthless like Paul Ince or Fergie with Jaap Stam.”

Anyone who has watched Liverpool over the past eight and a half years will be fully aware that Klopp is a manager who clearly cares about his players as people and is willing to give them hugs on the pitch after routine wins.
But Mamadou Sakho has been ruthless when he feels his authority is not respected, having been sent off for repeated tardiness during the 2016 pre-season tour of the United States.

While the incident remains a notable moment of insubordination under the 56-year-old for almost a decade at Anfield, under Ferguson at Manchester United such instances have seemed far more frequent.
Prominent players such as Ince, Stam, Roy Keane, David Beckham and Ruud van Nistelrooy have all been ostracized or abandoned by the Scot, who has firmly adopted a ‘one strike out’ policy at Old Trafford.
Lifting trophies with the Red Devils proved his ruthlessness, but Klopp was also a manager who was very considerate of those who played for him while also winning many trophies with Liverpool.
