The parents of a three-year-old boy are grateful that police rescued their missing child from a swimming pool.

Aziel, who has been diagnosed with autism, was left on the sofa to look at his tablet, but he wandered off. His parents told WPTA-TV he was prone to that.
As parents began searching for their little one on Sunday, their concerns grew as even neighbors had yet to spot him in the neighborhood.
That’s when Savannah decided to call the police for assistance, and as a Fort Wayne police officer, she felt relieved to do so. Evan Myers Eventually, Aziel is found in a neighbor’s swimming pool.
Myers’ bodycam video from the scene shows officers reacting quickly after hearing Aziel’s cries for help. Watch the video. He watched as he walked across the yard, through an open fence, and found Aziel floating face up in an above-ground pool.
Myers quickly pulled the young boy out of the water and reported via radio to his team that he had found Aziel, who appeared upset but unharmed.
Aziel’s father was not surprised that his son went to the swimming pool. Noting that his child was very fond of water, police were unaware of this fact until shortly before the rescue.
Alex added… “They ended up finding him about two minutes after I reminded him that he had autism and loved water.”
Both Alex and Savannah expressed their gratitude to Myers. He noted that it meant a lot to the family to see their son return home safely.
I hope we can avoid situations in the future. The pool fence has since been closed and Aziel’s parents plan to install their own fence around the property.
