The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. Suryakumar Yadav will captain the team, which is scheduled to play four matches starting at Kingsmead in Durban on November 8. This announcement includes several notable omissions due to injuries.
Mayank Yadav, Shivam Dube miss out
Among the notable absentees are Mayank Yadav and Ryan Parag, who made their international debuts in the previous series against Bangladesh. Both players are out due to injury. BCCI confirmed that Parag is currently receiving treatment for a chronic right shoulder injury at the Center of Excellence.
Sivam Dube, who missed the Bangladesh series due to injury, will also be sidelined. This absence has opened up the opportunity for new talent to join the team.
New faces in India T20I squad for South Africa series
The selection committee included three players who will be making their first appearance in the T20I format. Talented middle-order batsman Ramandeep Singh was recognized for his strong performances with Kolkata Knight Riders during IPL 2024 and the Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
Apart from Ramandeep, bowlers Vijaykumar Vyshak and Yash Dayal have also received first call-ups. Dayal was earlier selected in the Test squad in October but is yet to make his debut.
