India took a huge step for disabled cricket by hosting the Sri Lanka wheelchair team with great pomp and show. The Sri Lanka wheelchair cricket team arrived in India yesterday and received a warm and traditional Indian welcome.
In a friendly atmosphere, anticipation is growing for the upcoming APL-Appollo Wheelchair Cricket T20 Trophy. As the captains of Sri Lanka and India hold a joint press conference, setting the stage for a special display of sportsmanship and competitiveness.
The Wheelchair Cricket T20 Trophy will be held from June 11 to June 16, 2024, at the famous Shahid Vijay Pathik Cricket Complex in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

In a spectacular display of friendship and cultural exchange, the Sri Lanka wheelchair cricket team landed in India yesterday and received a warm and customary welcome.
At the press briefing, Sri Lanka coach Mungula and captain Tushita Mahinda praised the special facilities provided to India’s wheelchair cricketers, highlighting the seamless integration of tradition and modernity.
“This is the best agreement I have seen from any country. It is very encouraging to see how India is taking disabled cricket forward and setting new standards.” Mahindra said.
Indian skipper Somjeet in wheelchair T20 series
Responding to Mahindra’s comments on India’s preparations, India wheelchair team captain Somjeet said:
It highlighted the team’s unwavering commitment to delivering compelling results on the field.
“Our team has been preparing hard in all aspects of the game, including mentally,” he said. “We are confident in our skills and look forward to entertaining the crowd with our cricket.”
Abhai Pratap Singh, President of the Wheelchair Cricket Association of India, invited the Indian audience to revel in the event which will undoubtedly play a significant role in promoting disabled cricket in India.
“People won’t understand the fun of it unless they see it. I encourage everyone to come and watch the game being played at an international stadium.” Singh said.
