Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, October 21. Kyrgyzstan’s natural gas consumption reached 303 million cubic meters as of October 1, 2024, an increase of 55.9 million cubic meters compared to the same period in 2023, the Energy Ministry announced.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the expected gas import volume in 2024 is set at 500 million cubic meters. Korea’s gas supply rate increased from 38% in 2023 to 40% in the first half of 2024, and there are currently 402,000 subscribers connected to gas services.
To strengthen gas supply, plans are underway to supply gas to five residential districts: Novopavlovka, Bakay-Ata, Novopokrovka and Tokoldosh. By October 1, 2024, gas has been successfully delivered to four regions, adding 13,454 new subscribers.
Additionally, a subsidized financing project for gas supply in Bishkek and Chuy regions was approved. As of October 1, 2024, 167 subscribers were connected to natural gas under the plan. The total amount allocated to these connections so far is 19.4 million soms (about $226,900). The plan is part of a wider project estimated at 1 billion soms ($11.6 million) with an interest rate of 8% for up to 24 months.
