England will be without wing sensation Immanuel Feyi-Waboso for the Six Nations after opting to undergo shoulder surgery until at least mid-March.
As first reported by Mail Sport, the 22-year-old Exeter prodigy, who scored five tries in his first eight Tests last year, has received a ’50-50′ call on whether to undergo surgery after dislocating his shoulder last weekend. Premier League matches on sale before Christmas.
It is understood he has now opted to undergo the procedure rather than undergo patch-up rehabilitation and continue playing. Expected recovery time is 10 to 12 weeks.
The initial scan was inconclusive, so Feyi-Waboso had a second scan early last week.
Initially, non-surgical measures were most likely and would have been appropriate in the UK.
Instead, the national team will be deprived of one of its most lethal backline assets for the Six Nations campaign, which begins against Ireland in Dublin on February 1.
