Humble Games has reportedly laid off all 36 of its employees. Former employees posted about the layoffs on social media. Humble Games is owned by media conglomerate Ziff Davis, Injeni, Eurogamer and Game Industry.Biz It’s one of the games in the portfolio. Humble Games confirmed in a LinkedIn post that there had been “restructuring” at the company, but did not disclose the number of jobs lost.
A Humble Games PR representative also confirmed to Engadget that today’s restructuring will not be closing the company down. He added that the studio will continue to support and publish both ongoing and upcoming projects.
The layoffs at Humble Bundle are the latest in a series of events across the gaming industry. Last year saw a shocking number of layoffs at studios of all sizes, and sadly, the trend continues into 2024.
“The games industry is volatile and full of people who want exponential growth at the expense of building great games with great teams,” Emily Kiefer, a former senior quality assurance analyst at Humble Games, wrote on LinkedIn after her layoff.

The indie publisher has helped bring nearly 50 video games to market, including notable hits such as: Slay the Spire, Unpacking, Wonder Song and coral island. Humble Games also had several upcoming games, including: Never Alone 2A second exploration of the myths and stories of the Alaska Native Inupiat people.
“This decision was not made lightly,” Humble’s statement read. “It took a lot of thought and careful consideration, with the goal of ensuring the stability and support of our developers and their ongoing projects.”
This business is separate from the charity shop Humble Bundle and is part of Ziff Davis, but appears to be unaffected by today’s news. We’ve reached out to Ziff Davis and Humble Games for more information and will update if we hear back.
