Ms. Hall, whose mother suffered from breast cancer at the age of 50, already underwent a BRCA gene test in her 20s, but received a negative result. She also had never had a mammogram until this year after undergoing a risk assessment test.
After the evaluation, Hall was assigned to a routine screening schedule, including mammograms and MRIs every six months. After an MRI revealed several abnormalities, Hall underwent a biopsy, and the results confirmed she had breast cancer.
“This is actually good news.” Her doctor told her. “It’s level 0. It’s the fastest way to catch it.”
Hall was preparing to report on Munn’s battle with breast cancer when she was diagnosed. Hall described being part of the news as “surreal.”
“I organized the test to raise awareness about breast cancer, especially because breast cancer is a topic close to my heart,” she said. “Especially I didn’t think it would happen this quickly.”
Hall has decided to undergo a double mastectomy next week to remove the current cancer and lower her risk of a future diagnosis.
“I want to do everything I can to prevent this for myself and my family in the future,” Hall said.
Munn sent Hall a statement on ‘CBS Mornings’ saying, “You are now on the road to survival. Through your story, you are creating a ripple effect of hope and saving lives.”
Hall expressed deep gratitude for Munn’s words and emphasized how sharing his story could help others.
“Olivia had a direct impact on my life by sharing her story,” Hall said.
As Hall prepares for the upcoming surgery, she is grateful for the support of her family and friends, including her husband, who she calls her “human support.”
