Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki may be taking a backseat to Nightreign, but he has some solid advice for the spinoff director.
FromSoftware has been a Miyazaki company for a while, but with last year’s Armored Core 6 and now the upcoming Elden Ring spinoff Nightreign, things seem to be slowly changing again. This Elden Ring-focused collaboration is being directed by Junya Ishizaki. Junya Ishizaki is no stranger to the Souls series, considering he’s been at FromSoft since the first Dark Souls and spoke to PC Gamer. How he took on this role and the advice Miyazaki gave him when making the game. “The original offer to become a director came from Mr. Miyazaki,” Ishizaki said.

The director explained that Miyazaki told him, “It’s time to try it out yourself,” which is convenient considering Ishizaki “had some ideas while he was cooking” and “got approval” from Miyazaki after sharing them. I did it. them. When asked if he received any special advice from Miyazaki regarding taking over as director, Ishizaki said, “One thing that stands out is that he basically said, ‘Do whatever you want’ with this project.” He also noted that his confidence had “absolutely” improved.
These five words perhaps best summarize Miyazaki’s spirit as a game designer. Even though the game is very well balanced, considering how creatively generous these games can be. Who would have guessed that giving artists a bit of freedom to do as they please would lead to interesting results?
Nightreign is currently scheduled for release in 2025 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series You can sign up on January 10th, so keep an eye on Bandai Namco and FromSoft’s social media when that date changes.
