report
On Sunday England A played their first game of the season against Australia A at Twickenham Stoop.
The game had its first scrum after six minutes, giving England a great attacking platform just outside the Australian 22.
The ball quickly found its way into the hands of the dangerous Gabriel Ibitoye, who traveled 20 meters with his first carry of the match, taking England’s attack just meters from Australia’s try line.
A few physical carries from the England side followed, with tight end Joe Heyes crashing in from short range to give the home side an early lead. Atkinson’s conversion failed.
A few minutes later, some good work in the air by Australian winger Corey Toole gave the visitors the opportunity to launch their first attack in a meaningful position.
England conceded a penalty for the resulting attack, and Australia kicked the ball inside Croner to secure a lineout 10 meters from the England line.
The visitors set up a quick driving maul towards the England line, with flanker Luke Reimer breaking through to score Australia’s opening score.
The goal was successfully converted by flyhalf Tom Lynagh to give the visiting side the lead after 10 minutes.
In the 29th minute of the first half, Australia stole England’s lineout in the middle, giving them a chance to counterattack.
Center Hamish Stewart put a kick in behind the England backline well before Murley gave possession back to the visitors.
This possession saw Australia decide to score with a penalty kick 35 meters out from a central position, with Tom Lynagh extending the lead to 10-5.
second half
Carpenter slipped an offload to Ibitoye who broke down the left wing after another fantastic kick from inside his own half in the 56th minute and connected with Henry Pollock inside to give Ibitoye the favor back with just a few meters left to play. unfolded. .
Another offload gave Porter the chance to beat two defenders and he fired a beautifully weighted cross-field pass to replacement hooker Curtis Langdon, who dived in untouched to give England the lead once again. Flyhalf Atkinson was able to add an extra man this time to extend England’s lead to seven points.
England’s scrum penalty created a lineout just inside the Australian 22, where Tom Willis and Emmanuel Iyogun worked hard.
Fisilau extends lead
The ball was moved back to the blindside and Pollock was only a meter away. Substitute Greg Fisilau singled from base and dived to extend England’s lead after 61 minutes. At Atkinson, the transition was a success.
A few minutes later, Australia’s penalty was kicked into touch and resulted in a lineout 5 meters out, which started another maul, but this time it was well defended.
However, substitute propeller Rhys Van Nek’s short-range pick-and-go gave the visitors their first points of the second half. Substitute McLaughlin-Phillips successfully converted the score.
Two minutes later, Australia had possession just inside their own half and looked to exploit the wide space, but a high crossfield pass found England substitute winger Will Muir from 30 meters out. Switch to substitute Jamie Shillcock and play for 10 minutes.
In the 76th minute, another England penalty was kicked 10 meters out of the lineout. After setting up a driving maul, a well-worked back play gave Shillcock the opportunity to float a wonderful pass wide to winger Cadan Murley, who crossed over for his second of the game.
Shillcock was again successful with his conversion attempts.
