Bristol Bears have signed Ireland flyhalf Harry Byrne on loan from Leinster.
Byrne has signed a three-month contract from the Premiership side and the Bears said he would act as cover for AJ McGinty, who is set to miss the next four months with a knee injury.
The 25-year-old made 75 appearances for Leinster and made four appearances for his country.
“It was important to get that extra cover at fly-half,” said Bristol director of rugby Pat Lam.
“Harry is a high-quality international player with extensive experience at domestic and European level and representing one of the best clubs in world rugby.
“His style of play is a great fit for the Bears Way and I would like to thank Leo Cullen and Leinster Rugby for allowing Harry to join us.
“When I spoke to him, he was excited about playing for the Bears and his experience will be invaluable both on and off the pitch as we head into this busy period of Premiership and Champions Cup rugby.”
The Bears will next play in the Premiership when they travel to Saracens on January 4.
