Harry Brook performed miraculously and became the number one Test batsman 27 months after his debut. Brook took down teammate Joe Root. Recently, Brook put in a brilliant performance against New Zealand. His consistent form, including incredible scores of 123 and 55 in the second Test. This outstanding performance earned him this prestigious rank.
Harry Brook leads the ICC Test rankings with just one run. Root has been dominating the top rankings since July. But Brook’s incredible performance was too powerful to ignore. Brook’s heroic rise reflects his skill and ability to score freely under pressure.
Root himself praised the young batsman, calling him “the best player in the world right now.” At just 25 years of age, he scored eight centuries, including 317 against Pakistan in Multan.
Travis Head and Temba Bavuma made significant gains.
Australia’s Travis Head and South Africa’s captain have also risen in the ICC rankings. Head finished fifth in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, scoring 140 runs against India. Head’s crucial run laid the foundation for Australia’s victory over India in the Adelaide Test.
Likewise, Bavuma put in an impressive performance for South Africa against Sri Lanka. In the second Test, his scores of 78 and 66 were vital in South Africa’s win over Sri Lanka. This effort earned him the series title and moved him up three spots to 7th.

Marnus Labuschagne has also made notable progress. He moved up to 13th place after scoring 64 points in Adelaide. His return gave Australia some much-needed stability in the middle order.
Bowler Rankings
Pat Cummins’ fine bowling skills saw him reach the top four with seven wickets against India in Adelaide. He overtook Ravichandran Ashwin. Jasprit Bumrah, who took four wickets in the same Test, continues to hold the top spot with 890 points.
Meanwhile, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada came close to Bumrah in second place with 856 points. Rabada took three important wickets from Gqeberha.
The competition among the top bowlers remains fierce and the rankings could be shaken up further depending on their performance in the upcoming matches.
