Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford’s future continues to dominate the headlines with a host of Europe’s elite chasing his signature.
A Manchester United player who was left out of the Manchester derby matchday squad has dropped a bombshell, claiming he is ready for a new adventure away from Old Trafford.
The interview did not please his manager or the locker room, as the 27-year-old has since missed seven games. INEOS supported the manager’s position and are now preparing for his departure.
However, his price tag and hefty wages mean there are not too many permanent offers coming United’s way, with the Englishman already rejecting the riches of the Saudi Professional League.
Rashford’s future is up in the air
AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona are currently among three clubs considering an initial loan deal for the 27-year-old, who would prefer a move to Spain.
And according to Spanish publication SPORT, Barca manager Hansi Flick is a huge fan of the England international and even tried to sign him when he was at Bayern Munich.
The German treble-winning manager values his versatility and believes he can add value both on the left and up front as an alternative to Robert Lewandowski when the game comes thick and fast.
However, not everyone at the club is convinced, as the United No.10 is prone to inconsistency and off-field issues have also often plagued his career.
Flick is a fan of Rashford
“The Catalan club are closely monitoring Rashford’s situation and Hansi Flick has already approved his signature.
“Marcus Rashford is the German coach’s favorite player. In fact, he had already tried to obtain his services when he was managing Bayern Munich. Flick’s versatility is very positive as he can play both on the left wing and as a centre-forward.
“This way he will have a guaranteed replacement for Lewandowski in the second half of the season and the Colors will have a packed schedule full of high-demand matches.
“The club’s sporting department is unanimous in its disagreement about the Manchester United player. Because there is debate as to whether he is the type of striker the team needs.
The deadline has been set for January 15, although not everyone is convinced.
“Furthermore, Rashford’s inconsistency throughout his career and some issues in his personal life also raise doubts as the Catalan club are looking for a player who can play immediately.”
The Spanish giants cannot afford Rashford’s £300,000-a-week wages (via Capology) and the player is likely to reduce his wage demands, while United must also remember to contribute a significant portion.
Barca would like to sign the England international on an initial loan deal and it remains to be seen whether they have an option to buy in the summer.
Rashford has reportedly asked Barca to respond within January 15 about progressing a deal, otherwise he could look at AC Milan and other suitors.
“In any case, Barca are only considering signing English players on loan until the end of the season. “The player has Barcelona as his top priority, but the Catalan club has set a deadline of January 15 for a clear response regarding his transfer.”
