Another free game added to the GOG Summer Sale.
Historical action-adventure title The First Templar – Special Edition is available to download for free until July 6th at 6am PT / 9am PDT / 2pm GMT.
To receive the game, players must opt-in to receive GOG marketing emails.
According to the GOG store listing, “First Templar follows the story of two protagonists: a French Knight Templar and his companion, a noblewoman who has been declared a heretic.”
“Players who take control of these two unlikely alliances must uncover the secrets of the Knights Templar, become involved in a grand conspiracy, and discover the secrets of the Holy Grail.
“The heroes face powerful enemies at every turn, including the Sacramento, Philip IV of France, and the Inquisition.
“First Templar offers both single-player and co-op modes. When playing solo, players can switch between two characters, leaving control of the second hero to the game’s AI. At any time, a second player can join to take control of the AI-controlled hero.”
Developed by Haemimont Games and published by Kalypso Media Digital, the game was released in 2022, and the PC version received a 57 on review aggregation site Metacritic.
For comparison, The First Templar – Special Edition normally retails for $9.99 / £7.99 on Steam, but is currently on sale for $3.99 / £3.19 as part of the Steam Summer Sale.
According to GOG, the GOG Summer Sale, which runs until July 10, features discounts of up to 95% and over 6,000 items.
In a previous promotion, GOG gave away the isometric RPG Shadows: Awakening for free.
