Gloucester have immediately signed former Worcester Warriors center Will Butler.
The 26-year-old returns to the Gallagher Premiership following Worcester’s demise in 2022.
Since then, the former England U20 international has represented Hartpury in the Championship and Tasman Mako in New Zealand.
The center was targeted by the Cherry and Whites as they look to strengthen their team ahead of what director of rugby George Skvington described as a “really competitive match”.
Gloucester host Edinburgh in the Challenge Cup at Kingsholm on Friday before traveling to top-14 newcomers Vannes next week.
“We’re delighted to be bringing Will to our premises at Kingsholm to strengthen our backbone,” said Skivington. “We are playing some really competitive games so having strength in depth in key areas will be important.
“Will is an experienced player and very motivated to get another chance in the Premiership, so I’m delighted he has come with a real desire to learn and work hard.”
Buttler was named on the bench for the Challenge Cup match, meaning he could make his debut the day after his signing was announced.
