Thursday was a rare day on Reddit, as Season 1 of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 was released. Typically, the subreddit is full of angry gamers complaining about everything from creation to map layouts to the various bugs that plague all Call Of Duty games.
But yesterday there was a surprising sense of satisfaction in the community. It was like an early Christmas. All old XP tokens from past years call of duty games and warzone Suddenly it was available. black ops 6, It’s a notoriously difficult game, especially if you choose Prestige.
I noticed that I had dozens of XP tokens in my inventory that weren’t there the day before, and I quickly activated them, mostly playing the new Season 1 content and the new Area 99 Warzone map, which I really liked.
I love the new maps Hideout and Evacuation. The first map is a nice medium-sized map with lots of nice flanking options, while the second is a much larger map with some great sniping routes and strategy options. I like Heirloom less, but it might be a better Gunfight 2v2 map than a 6v6 Faceoff map.
I’ve been working on Prestige and it was nice to have an extra XP token to make it a little less arduous and a 2XP weapon token to get the slow leveling guns closer to max. The community was just as excited as I was, and there were several posts on Reddit praising the decision to give away the old XP tokens. Probably the most positive thing I’ve ever seen call of duty Add to the subreddit for as long as I can remember.

Then today I booted up the game and it was all gone. It turns out that Treyarch and Activision had no intention of giving us our old XP tokens back. It was just an error. The developer inserted an update into the UI section of the patch notes on Friday, writing that it “fixed an issue that incorrectly allowed legacy XP tokens to be activated in the Black Ops 6 UI.”
I’d say this was a monumental mistake on the part of Treyarch and Activision. Even if it was an error in the game to allow these to be used, the worst thing you can do once the genie is out of the bottle is try to put it back in. They should have admitted their mistake and just allowed it. Players enjoy using tokens, which are previously earned tokens. call of duty Title to start with.
This is the best way to turn the casual goodwill of a community into anger and discontent. Luckily for gamers, although it’s annoying, there’s still a workaround. Simply enter warzone Then all your tokens will be there. Activate the token in that game and then go back to: black ops 6 And they will continue to operate there. This is a very easy solution. Why remove it in the first place? Why make an entire community angry when it makes no real difference one way or the other?
I’ve reached out to Activision to see if they have an answer to this question or an explanation as to why they decided to remove XP tokens in the first place. I will update this post when I receive a response.
I’m pretty much satisfied with season 1 for now, but this is taking me in the wrong direction, and I’m not the only one.
Other issues this season include the apparently accidental damage range nerf to many assault rifles, which leaves them incredibly underpowered even at mid-range, the odd inability to unlock the Ghost perk, the ugliest Operator skin and the most annoying death. There are some added effects, etc. all guns in all call of duty Franchise included.
I’ll go into more detail on this last point in a separate post, but it’s a bit of a shame that preseason is over and now I have to watch glowing green dragons running around and getting blasted by more agreeable tracers. Like a rocket. It’s such a shame. I hope Activision and its studio do a better job of making creative skins that aren’t obtrusive and give players the option to turn off distracting special effects.
