What to expect from Call of Duty: Next 2024
Call of Duty is the world’s largest first-person shooter franchise, and it’s been a year since it celebrated its 20th anniversary. Looking ahead to the future of the series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 It’s scheduled to launch on October 25. The game is the first Call of Duty title to launch on day one of the Xbox Game Pass subscription service, and comes after the tumultuous merger between publishers Activision and Xbox, which faced significant legal challenges from global regulators.
Treyarch Studios is the lead development studio for Black Ops 6, with Raven Software leading the narrative development of the campaign. A number of Activision-owned studios, including Beenox, High Moon, Infinity Ward, and Sledgehammer Games, have all provided additional support to the ongoing development of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone.
While some trailers for Zombies and multiplayer have been released, the game has been hit with numerous leaks, the most serious of which came from an update to Call of Duty HQ to prepare for the open beta, which gave players with jailbroken PS4s access to Black Ops 6 multiplayer.
Multiplayer
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a major step forward for the franchise’s movement system. Completely reworked with thousands of new animations, the new Omnimovement system dramatically changes the way players move and interact with each other in the game world.
From prone to action star diving in all directions and using your opponents as human shields, there’s plenty to talk about in Call of Duty: Next stage multiplayer news. Players can expect a deep dive into Omnimovement, a look at the new maps available in the open beta, and a look at the new modes coming to Black Ops 6.
zombi
Treyarch recently released a deep dive into Terminus, the Zombies map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The recent trailer also gave us a first look at Liberty Falls, a map set in a bucolic West Virginia town overrun by the undead. Call of Duty: Next 2024 will feature a hands-on look at Liberty Falls from content creators on the showcase floor, as well as a deep dive from the developers.
Call of Duty: Warzone
The Call of Duty social media accounts recently teased the reveal of Area 99, an all-new map coming from Treyarch Studios to Call of Duty: Warzone. Little is currently known about Area 99, and leaks about the map have been scarce. Some prominent community leakers have said that it is a rebirth map similar to Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island, and that a larger battle royale map will not replace Urzikstan until Verdansk returns in 2025. Area 99 is set to be revealed in COD Next, so it shouldn’t take long for us to find out if the leakers are right this time.
We can also expect to see Omnimovement implemented in live gameplay in Warzone.
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile
It’s been five years since its release. Call of Duty: MobileSo to celebrate the milestone, expect to see some of your favorite mobile COD creators at the Next Showcase. New features coming to Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will also be announced during the event.

The Future of Call of Duty
While doing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 It was the first franchise game to enter Game Pass and launch after the Activision and Xbox merger, but the title’s development was rushed and largely unaffected by Xbox’s ownership. The release of Black Ops 6 will be a touchstone for the future of the franchise. It is the first title to have enjoyed a four-year development cycle and benefited from an “all hands on deck” approach. However, the loss of Toys for Bob, which was classified as an independent studio after the Xbox merger, ultimately means more work for developers in other supporting studios.
There’s also no telling how much, or if at all, other Xbox-owned studios will be drawn to the Call of Duty machine, or whether the well-established franchise will continue its annual release schedule in its own development bubble. The future of Call of Duty looks bright, but it’s clouded by potential. Call of Duty: Next offers a closer look at what’s right around the corner, but it only scratches the surface of what could be.
