Welcome, game geeks! Welcome to 2015. Until dawn A genre-defining game that has captured the hearts of many with its web of interconnected decisions, diverse branching, memorable characters, and compelling and often terrifying storyline. Once again, we invite you to spend the night at Blackwood Mountain.
As a team Until dawn Dear fans and horror enthusiasts, our intention was not to change the events of that fateful night. Instead, we focused on providing a cinematic update to the original game, enhancing the visual storytelling to create a more intimate experience for players.
Full visuals reimagined with Unreal Engine 5
The new Until Dawn experience has been built from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5. It features updated character models, environments, interactive props, visual effects, and animations, all designed to maximize the Until Dawn experience on PS5 and PC.
We’ve completely reworked the game’s lighting to take advantage of Unreal Engine 5’s rendering capabilities, including ray tracing and improved materials, and have focused on creating a more atmospheric, “modern horror” experience.
One of the major visual improvements in Until Dawn was to revisit the character models and bring them in line with modern advancements in character modeling and rendering. Improvements to textures, materials, rendering, and animation performance all contributed to higher fidelity characters that are expected to resonate with both new players and fans of the game.
We’ve used the latest pre-rendering simulation technology to create even more realistic real-time fluids, which you can see in all their gory glory, especially in the updated character death scenes. We’ve also updated the injury mask system, which allows you to add elements like cuts, bruises, tears, eyes, and water to your character’s body.
Revised cinematography, production design and new camera control mechanisms
By combining fixed and over-the-shoulder camera views, you can now see the world of Until Dawn from a whole new perspective. By blending original cinematography with the introduction of a modern third-person camera, we aim to breathe new life into characters and locations. The flexibility of the camera allows us to place new emphasis on key moments and tell the story from a closer perspective on the characters.
Reworked introduction
We decided to keep the original narrative intact, but we thought the introduction could use a little more pacing. We gave the Washingtons more screen time to explore their close family bond and get to know them a little better. We also re-imagined some of the original scenes and developed some context for their infamous pranks. This will hopefully enhance their emotional impact.
New Collectibles
Collectors and explorers, keep your eyes peeled. We’ve moved all the original totems so you can find them again. We’ve also added a special new type of totem, the Hunger Totem, which has a different kind of vision than the others. There are also new interactions and small new areas that contain them, adding additional context and detail to the world. Until dawn Provides rewards for players’ exploration.
Customizable settings
We are proud to implement new accessibility and usability settings to make the game more accessible to more players. We have also created a new optional alternative to the Don’t Move mechanic called Stay Calm. Stay Calm is for players who do not have a gyroscope and prefer a different challenge.
