After coming in third place on season 19 of America’s Got Talent, Sky Elements is ready to make her mark even bigger. Texas-based Drone Light Show is hosting a free drone show tomorrow that has the potential to break a Guinness World Record.
The Free Texas Drone Show is scheduled for Saturday, September 28th at 9pm in Mansfield, Texas. If all goes as planned, the free drone show, held in partnership with the City of Mansfield, will break the Guinness World Records title for the most remotely operated multi-rotor drone to launch fireworks simultaneously.
The current record is held by PABLO AIR. PABLO set the record on April 24, 2024 in Incheon, South Korea. The nine-minute show featured 1,068 drones flying through the air. PABLO operates primarily as a lighting show company in Korea as well as a drone delivery company. But its work with the FAA-designated New York UAS Test Site has also made a splash in the United States.
Breaking the record in the United States became possible after the Federal Aviation Administration approved Sky Elements to launch fireworks from drones.
Sky Elements uses UVify’s drones for all of its shows. UVify has an office in Seattle and a strong presence in Korea. This is another American drone company based in Seattle. To launch fireworks from drones, we specifically use a model called UVify IFO-P. The IFO-P can carry up to 12 pyrotechnic devices.
IFO-P is a modified version of the IFO drone. All drones require strong safety mechanisms, but these can be even more important when pyro elements are taken into account. It includes safety features such as a locking mechanism on the mount and additional cable ties for redundancy. The mount is heat-resistant, which is critical to ignition and combustion of the flame.
How to Watch the Guinness World Records Pyro Show
The show will be held in Mansfield, Texas, a suburb of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area near Arlington, Texas. Sky Elements said it would be best visible from the area around Mansfield Sports Park.
The show starts at 9pm, but Sky Elements recommends you arrive by 8:30pm to get a seat. And considering the huge interest in Sky Elements since it made it to the finale of America’s Got Talent, and the fact that you can watch this drone show for free, you might want to get there sooner. Sky Elements also asks that you avoid parking or stopping on the streets near the actual recording attempt, so you may need to spend extra time walking and finding an observation deck (if you choose not to watch from your car).
As for the audio, everything is set to a soundtrack in a clever way that the user can hear. The music is broadcast via FM radio on 88.9 FM.
Drone Star State Gives Texas More Feed
Here at Team Drone Girl, we’ve called Texas “The Drone Star State.” This became especially clear after seeing Wing’s drone delivery operations in Fort Worth, Texas. It’s relatively not far from Mansfield, where the drone show is held.
For some Dallas residents, this means they can order snacks for the show in advance and have them delivered to their yard via drone. From there, you can drive to Mansfield and see the free Texas Drone Show.
What you need to know about Sky Element
Sky Elements has been on an absolute tear lately. Earlier this week, NBC announced that Sky Elements placed third in the AGT Season 19 fan poll.
This brought national attention to the company, which was founded in late 2020 and has since grown to become the largest drone show company in the United States. It is even one of the largest drone show companies in the world.
Sky Elements has already achieved Guinness World Records. Over the Fourth of July weekend in 2023, the company earned the Guinness World Record for producing the most drone shows in a single weekend. And speaking of recent tears, Sky Elements set a separate world record when it deployed 2,400 drones to the Petco Park site in San Diego as part of the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con’s “Deadpool and Wolverine” themed show. This record-breaking performance broke Disneyland Paris’ record for “largest aerial display of a virtual character formed by a multirotor/drone.”
Can’t make it to the free Texas Drone Show in Mansfield this weekend? Summer seems to be the season for drone shows, given the outdoor nighttime nature (even more enjoyable on warm summer nights), but there are still plenty of public drone shows that will continue to take place throughout the remainder of 2024.
