It’s always great to hear stories from Chelsea legend Frank Lampard. And I know I’m not in the minority by saying that.
Lampard still maintains a relationship with our owners, speaks to them regularly and is often invited to games. I think they obviously respect his opinion and accept what he says.
I still argue he should have a board role at Chelsea, but I think he still wants to coach.
Anyway, Lampard said what Chelsea are now, and he believes it.
“They are young, that is true, it is not always easy to have great consistency in a young team,” Lampard said. TNT Sports Mexico.
‘Maybe it’s not always easy to win (with young players). But this is the strategy taken by Chelsea.
‘The moment they go through the season they’re going through right now, it feels like they’re going in the right direction. There are a lot of young talents, especially in the offensive field. There are plenty of options within the game to change things up or down and keep things up to date.
‘After two or three years of transition and difficult times, changes in ownership, changes in managers, changes in players and teams… There are a lot of new faces and players… It’s understandable that they didn’t compete.
‘But now I think they are in a good position to challenge for the top four again and where Chelsea expects to be.’

Lampard believes Arsenal and Liverpool stand out as major contenders to break Manchester City’s stranglehold on the Premier League title this season.
Commenting on Arsenal’s chances, Lampard explained: ‘They have brought in a lot of players and their team is really strong in all areas.
‘They can take one out, bring one in, and there are a lot of options out there.
‘I have to say that Arsenal are in talks to compete with City because they have been putting pressure on City over the last two seasons.
‘I think it might be more difficult for Liverpool, but again, because the manager has changed and Jurgen Klopp’s style has been so distinct.
‘Change at Liverpool may be difficult, but I still think Liverpool have a really good squad and the new manager has started well.’
The former England midfielder added: ‘These are teams I expect to be competitive again but the beauty of the Premier League is that teams like Aston Villa, Brighton and Newcastle are all improving.
‘Their squad is stronger than ever and they have good coaches, so there are always surprises in the Premier League.
‘I think Aston Villa are a good example of that with what they’ve done over the last two or three seasons.’
Great insights and comments from Super Frank. I sincerely hope he is right and that Chelsea are finally back where we need to be!
