Josh Buckley, the former CEO of Product Hunt, is targeting a fourth round of funding of $250 million for his venture capital firm, Buckley Ventures, according to a filing with regulators.
Berkeley’s ambitions for this fund are much lower than those of its predecessor. He sought to raise a third $500 million fund in February 2022, shortly after the VC world entered a bear market. He has raised $337 million for it, according to PitchBook data.
Amid the fundraising craze that reached its peak in 2021, Buckley became known, along with Lachy Groom, as one of the leading solo venture capitalists, offering better terms and higher rates to startups than traditional VCs in order to close coveted deals for startups. Was willing to provide a price.
Some of Berkeley’s high-profile bets have not paid off, like Airlift, a Pakistani logistics startup that shuttered in 2022, about a year after Berkeley co-led its $85 million Series B. Berkeley did not respond to a request for comment.
