Oxenfree It’s one of my favorite games. The compelling combination of natural, humorous dialogue and an eerie, podcast-like storyline appealed strongly to me and completely pulled me into the mysterious story. Strange radio signals, ghostly apparitions, time and space not working properly – all experienced through the eyes of smart-mouthed teenagers on their final trip before college. I couldn’t recommend it to enough people.
Then a sequel came out in 2023, but I didn’t play it. I didn’t want to do it. I think I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to capture that moment again, and I think that moment was perfect. And because it is an intervention game from developer Night School, in 2019 after partydidn’t work for me any. But I’ll stop being silly and remember that while I was on a short vacation this holiday, I was driven by the desire to play something epically powerful and was equipped with nothing but an Android tablet. Oxenfree II Available as part of an active Netflix sub. And it’s great! that really exorbitant! It makes more mistakes than the original, and parts of the story don’t add up properly (perhaps because of my choices, it doesn’t explain why the two main characters are so antagonistic toward the teenage Olivia). Amazing vocal performances and an interesting storyline (even if it’s disappointingly unbelievable, radio doesn’t work that way!). We’re now very close to the final part and I’m looking forward to finally finding out how it all wraps up. —John Walker
