As a lifelong Final Fantasy fan, I’ve fought against seemingly impossible odds and collected more Phoenix Downs than I’d like to admit. Actually, I think I spent more time with Cloud and Squall than I did. Although not unexpected, PC ports appeared out of nowhere. Square Enix announced. Final Fantasy 16 PC This is a port that mirrors the PlayStation 5 version. Naturally, as a series veteran, my excitement levels were through the roof.
If you start with high-end equipment, the game becomes… It looks better, but it’s not the significant difference you might expect. Sure, distant towers are a bit more detailed and foliage is a bit more defined, but honestly, these are the standard buffs you’d expect when switching from console to PC.
The game’s opening moments set the stage for an epic experience, providing a tantalizing glimpse into the intense action and breathtaking visuals that lie ahead. After a brief introduction, you’ll engage in a heart-pounding battle between the Phoenix and the Infernal Eikon. This is your first taste of the adrenaline-pumping combat mechanics that define the game. As Phoenix, you rain a constant barrage of fireballs at the towering Eikon, a vital strategy to maintain the upper hand.
Upon experiencing this first encounter, it became clear that the game was pushing the boundaries of what was possible in terms of both gameplay and graphics. Now the question is whether your PC can keep up with the requirements. With the right hardware, your games will run smoothly so you can be fully immersed in the action without any issues. However, users with older systems may need to reduce settings to maintain performance, but the core experience is still just as thrilling. This is just the beginning, and the future promises even greater challenges and more dramatic encounters.
But here comes the plot twist. The image quality leaves something to be desired. Even with settings maxed out, depth of field and reflection aliasing rear their ugly heads more often than a recurring boss in an RPG. Players who enjoy discovering small details, like the fur on Benedikta’s costume, will find themselves longing for a classic pixel character or two.
At least I didn’t have this kind of problem! On mid-range PCs, gaming becomes a pain. With the Ryzen 5 3600 and RTX 2070, the game stuttered and stuttered, with frame rates reaching 30FPS during cutscenes, resulting in severe visual stiffness.
