Two North Carolina lawmakers believe there is validity to claims that FEMA representatives decided to avoid residences for political reasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Helen.
U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson, R-N.C., said a federal investigation is expected soon. Among the community trends described as leading to skipping were political manifestations.
Hudson wrote on social media late Tuesday afternoon: “We will hold those responsible for these un-American abuses of power accountable. “An investigation is coming.”
Hudson zoomed in on a clip from Monday’s edition of the Roland Martin Unfiltered Daily Digital Show in which Marn’i Washington was interviewed. Washington has been confirmed to have been fired from his job as head of the Disaster Survivor Assistance Team at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

“I skipped home,” Washington said after a lengthy conversation with Martin to explain the work, meetings and directives of the agency, led by FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. “Yes,” he said. “The American people need to know that. “If we approach things in a hostile manner or if they make employees feel uncomfortable, we disengage.”
washington The workers said so This applies not only to houses with signs for Donald Trump, but also to houses without signs for Kamala Harris and Joe Biden.
Washington outlined the federal agency’s plan to monitor so-called community trends. For example, the participation of three or four houses on a street all showing similar political manifestations would constitute such a trend. She said staff would work with people in homes with such signs if they wanted to participate, and if possible, other homes on the street.
Washington said he was unfairly singled out and that his incident report to the Disaster Survivor Support Team will prove it.
In an interview, Washington said the incident first reported in Florida was not isolated and had also occurred in the Carolinas. She said it was false to portray her actions as furthering her political agenda.
“They claim that these actions were done with my approval and that they were for my political advancement. But if you look at the records, there is what we call a community trend. Unfortunately, during this deployment, I happened to see Trump campaign signs due to the political hostility my team, which was on two different teams, faced. FEMA always emphasizes avoidance first, then de-escalation. So this is not isolated. This is a huge case of evasion, which can be found not only in the state of Florida, but also in the Carolinas.

“Senior leadership will lie to you and say they don’t know. But ask DSA team leaders and experts what their experience is in the field, and they’ll tell you. “Require FEMA to provide such incident reports.”
Washington, a California native, told Martin he did not vote this election cycle because of the high demand for his job as a FEMA reservist. She was subsequently immediately fired from her full-time job at Avanath.
Rep. Dan Bishop (R-Mo.) agreed with Rep. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.)’s post, saying, “The Homeland Security Committee should immediately begin an investigation and ask this person to testify. Swearing. “Publicly.”
