FC Barcelona’s move for Marcus Rashford appears to be looking increasingly likely as Juventus are very keen on signing defender Ronald Araujo from the Catalan club.
The Red Devils are keen to send Rashford out on loan as he is no longer part of Ruben Amorim’s plans following the game against Viktoria Plzeň on December 12.
A number of clubs are chasing Rashford, but one team that has emerged as a big contender is Barcelona and one of the trump cards the European giants could hold is Rashford’s preference for a move to Spain.
As a result, Barcelona are currently exploring ways to sign Rashford amid their financial problems and are currently attempting to free up €6.5 million in ‘salary spending’ to enable a deal to go through.
Moreover, due to Spain’s complex financial restrictions, Barcelona must adhere to the 1:1 rule. This means that a player must leave before he can sign with another player.
A deal for Rashford could soon accelerate as Juventus are chasing Araujo, according to Calciomercato.
The Italian press said: “Juventus are betting everything on Araujo. The Barcelona centre-back is miles ahead of other names who, even today, have not found an easier exit and in any case a less blocked path to Turin.”
Crucially, Juve already has the ‘willingness to transfer the player’ and the club is ready to ‘welcome him as soon as possible’.
The obstacle is that Barcelona have not yet agreed to the transfer. “There are currently no discussions about the cost of the loan or the right to repay it. This is where the key lies, as there is a risk that Barcelona’s request will be much higher than expected.” , we are ready for the total amount to reach 40 million euros, including the first contribution to bring him to Turin as soon as possible.”
So while it may take time and patience to get a deal done, this could soon accelerate as Barcelona have plenty of competition for Rashford, namely AC Milan.
Nonetheless, it is noteworthy that the deal “will move forward faster” as Barcelona face their rivals Real Madrid after the Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
A compromise is said to be necessary, but there is optimism that a deal could be done in the coming weeks due to Juventus’ urgency to strengthen their defense and Barcelona’s desire to fund Rashford.
