At first Every January, the consumer technology industry flocks to the desert boomtown of Las Vegas, Nevada for CES. The trade show is the world’s largest technology industry event, with over 138,000 attendees and 2.5 million square feet of space. This is a place where businesses such as startups, multinational corporations, retailers, distributors, and financial institutions connect. But the show is also open to the press and the general public, so everyone is competing for each other’s attention, eyeballs and money. Especially at the booths of large companies with big budgets, the glitz and glamor is astronomical.
Photographer Tristan deBrauwere was on site in Las Vegas all week shooting the show for WIRED. To see highlights of his work, see his three photo galleries. Today Tristan takes us behind the scenes to show us that CES is still the show where humanity reigns supreme, even in internet-connected robotic vibration centers.
