Manchester United have already signed two of the most sought-after players in Europe in Joshua Zirkzee and Lenny Yoro, but they need more reinforcements.
However, INEOS must be careful not to breach PSR concerns before proceeding further with its planned recruitment drive and will balance its finances through player sales.
Casemiro, Scott McTominay and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are some of the most hyped stars, but HITC Football has now added a new name to the list.
They revealed that Erik ten Hag had been in talks with the Reds about a new hierarchy and possible transfers, with the manager suggesting he would let Mason Mount go.
Mount out?
The England international signed from Chelsea last summer and was given the iconic number 7 shirt, but the versatile midfielder has struggled to make much of a splash, mainly due to a number of injuries.
It was a strange signing, considering Bruno Fernandes does everything and more than Mount can. The squad depth has certainly improved, but throwing so much money at a backup signing didn’t make much sense and it looks like it’s only going to get worse for the former Chelsea star.
In fact, the Englishman missed 30 games in his debut season and there were hopes that once he was fully fit the club would be able to show why they had splashed out €64 million on him.
But INEOS doesn’t seem to be as generous as the Glazers, who often tried to keep players at their clubs to recoup the sale fee later. That policy didn’t help at all, with the wage bill ballooning while the players continued to get worse.
United are said to be willing to sell Mount after just one season, with Premier League clubs including Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur interested.
I am very interested in PL
“HITC understands Manchester United will be open to selling Mason Mount and Anthony this summer, with interest in the £60m midfielder from across the Premier League.
HITC understands Erik ten Hag has held lengthy talks with the club’s football department about a potential move this summer amid talks ahead of the season, with Mount and Anthony confirmed as options for the club to consider.
“We understand that a number of clubs have been made aware of his situation and that Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have shown interest this summer and have held talks with them about a potential deal.”
Hopefully, Mount can impress the new hierarchy in pre-season and prove why he deserves to stay and fight for his place. United should give him another season before they cut him short if things don’t go well.
