Real Madrid striker Endrik said he was unaffected by external criticism after the defeat, saying “that’s football.”
Endrick joined blank The player, who arrived from Palmeiras this summer, became Madrid’s youngest player to appear in a Champions League match at 18 years and 73 days old in Wednesday’s 1-0 loss to Lille.
On how he deals with negative comments after losses when playing for Madrid, Endrick said: “To be honest, I don’t see anything. That’s football. You can score a goal today and everyone is excited, but if you lose, they throw you away.
“This happened a long time ago when I was at Palmeiras. I learned not to look. I press that little ‘don’t care’ button. I only follow the advice of my coaches and teammates.
“That’s the important thing. It doesn’t matter if it comes from outside.”
Despite the unexpected loss, Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said he was satisfied with Endrick’s performance.
The Brazilian forward had one shot on target and was booked in the 57 minutes he was on the pitch.
Ancelotti said this about Endrick after the game: “He did well. He had very clear chances. He lacked finishing but he is young and has the qualities to stay with us.”
Endrick, who scored as a substitute against Stuttgart on his Champions League debut, admitted starting for Madrid was a different challenge and added that he is learning a lot from Italian veteran Ancelotti.
“It’s an amazing feeling,” Endrick said. “I am at the biggest club in the world. It is difficult to play from the beginning.
“Ancelotti always calls me and tells me how important it is to be here. I’m learning from others and I’m happy to be here. He asked me to play calmly and be happy, but I failed in this match. “When I found out I was going to play, he told me to play calmly and I’m glad to be training with Ancelotti, who, as everyone knows, is a great coach.”
Madrid, who ended their 36-game unbeaten run on Wednesday, are back in action on Saturday when they take on Villarreal in La Liga.
