If you buy an iPhone 16 or iPhone 16 Pro, there’s one thing missing from the box: the Apple sticker.
Confirmed in a message distributed to the Apple Store team this week: 9to5macApple has confirmed that the iPhone 16 will not come with an Apple sticker in the box. Instead, the company says the sticker will be provided to iPhone 16 buyers only upon request.
If you buy an iPhone 16 from an Apple Store, you can request an Apple sticker at checkout, but otherwise you’re out of luck. Third-party retailers and carrier partners don’t have Apple stickers to distribute, and you won’t receive one if you order an iPhone 16 for home delivery.
These changes are part of Apple’s environmental goals and ongoing commitment to become carbon neutral by 2030. This year, Apple specifically touted that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro packaging is entirely fiber-based, bringing the company one step closer to its goal of eliminating all plastic from its packaging by next year.
While this may signal the end of an era, it’s not surprising. When the Apple Vision Pro was released in February, buyers were quick to point out that there was no sticker on the box. The new iPad Pro and iPad Air, released in May, also don’t have stickers on the box.
