Emio – The Laughing Man: The Famicom Detective Agency Trilogy Demo Comes to Nintendo Switch
Starting August 20, players will be able to download the Episode Demo, which will allow them to play through the Prologue and Chapter 1.
Two chapters will be automatically added to the demo. Chapter 2 will be added on August 23rd, and Chapter 3 on August 28th. Players will be able to carry over their progress to the full version of the game if they purchase it.
“Emio – The Laughing Man: A student from the Famicom Detective Club is found dead in a grisly manner. His head is covered with a paper bag with an eerie smile drawn on it,” the game’s plot description reads.
“The unsettling face bears a striking resemblance to a recurring clue in a string of unsolved murders from 18 years ago, as well as to the urban legend of Emio, the Smiling Man, a serial killer who is said to give his victims an ‘everlasting smile.'”
Players take on the role of a private detective assistant at Utsugi Detective Agency, tasked with helping the police solve crimes.
“During this process, you will closely examine clues and testimonies that may be potentially related to horrific events of the past,” Nintendo says.
The Famicom Detective Club are two murder mystery games originally released in Japan in the late 80s for the Famicom Disk System.
‘The Man Who Laughs’ follows the first and second installments in the previously released series, both of which were remade for Nintendo Switch.
