Cameos, transformations, fourth-wall-breaking moments, and R-rated moments make Deadpool and Wolverine an X-tremely satisfying cinematic experience and a Marvelous must-see. So what are you waiting for, kid?

Movie Review (Warning: Spoilers Ahead!)
Ryan Reynolds returns as Wade Wilson/Deadpool after a six-year hiatus, and Hugh Jackman returns as Logan/Wolverine after a seven-year hiatus. Ryan Reynolds is a mercenary and one of the writers and producers. The film is R-rated, but there were high hopes that it would have a lot of hilarious moments, and it did. Since Ryan was one of the writers, I can only imagine all the jokes that went on behind the scenes.
The story continues in Deadpool 2 and Logan, which were released in 2018 and 2017 respectively. I highly recommend watching the previous mutant movies and the previous Deadpool movies. If you have watched the previous entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you will find many references to the movies and TV series in the movie. The story begins with Deadpool fighting a TVA soldier, last seen in the Loki TV series. This is followed by an impressive choreography scene where a dancer dressed in a Deadpool costume starts the best dance movie with NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye, which has reached the number one spot on the Spotify charts.
Ryan and Hugh deliver their best performances in the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Reynolds brings humor and Jackman brings more seriousness to the role than ever before. There are many other stars from previous Deadpool and Wolverine films, but the overall focus is on Deadpool and Wolverine. Wolverine must save the world again, and this time, the stakes are high as he faces a villain named Cassandra Nova, played by Emma Corrin.
Emma did a great job in this role, and I hope we see Cassandra again in future installments… anything is possible, since this is a multiverse saga. Other surprises come in the form of returning villains and allies who haven’t been around for years. I won’t spoil too much here, because mentioning names would likely ruin the experience. There are also surprise appearances by stars we’ve never seen in a Marvel movie before, but they’ve been teased multiple times.
Other actors who appear include Matthew Macfadyen and Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlisle. Both are important characters but have very limited screen time. Other stars who could be mentioned include Karan Soni as Dopinder, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shiori Kutzuna as Yukio, and Stefan Kapicic as the voice of Colossus. Randall Reeder stars as Burke and Lewis Tan stars as Rusty/Shatterstar.
The surprise appearances are great, but they are short-lived and make you wonder why there haven’t been other surprise appearances in other Marvel movies. There was one particular character I’d like to see reappear in the future, but that’s a personal preference. If you see the movie and comment on this article’s social media posts, I’ll check to see if you got it right. Cameos were promised, and Deadpool and Wolverine definitely delivered.
There are quite a few Easter eggs in the movie, and I highly recommend watching it a second or third time to actually discover them. Many of them are reminiscent of other Marvel movies, and some are nods to potential future movies. I encourage you, the readers, to go and look for them and share your findings in the comments.
Most of the film takes place in the Void, which as you may recall was a key location in Loki, where the mutants end up after they are pruned. While Loki is not seen, there are many connections to the other films, making this film definitely worth rewatching.
This movie is rated R and it lives up to its rating with enough language and violence to outdo an action movie. But we’re not here just for the violence and language. We’re here to see how Marvel connects the dots between the mutant movie and the previous installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The next movie is still months away and continuity and the direction it’s headed are equally important.
The initial trailer for the movie didn’t spoil much, but as the months went by, we’ve seen a lot of surprises being spoiled. What I’ve observed over the past four months is that there have been a lot of conversations and leaked photos on social media. The biggest concern is that there have been a lot of pretty accurate leaks regarding the appearances of the characters in the movie.
The film has a great soundtrack overall, which you can find on Spotify via the link below.
The film ends in a way that leaves it unclear whether the storyline is truly integrated into the multiverse saga or the divine timeline. It is not yet known whether this is a teaser.
The film does feature a post-credits scene, which is fun, but doesn’t seem to hint at any continuity with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It also doesn’t offer any previews of what’s coming next in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since this is the only film from Marvel Studios, I was hoping to see a preview of what’s coming next year or a reference to the next Avengers film, but there was no such teaser at the end.
My rating for this movie is 4 out of 5. The movie starts off very warm and action-packed, but the story cools down towards the end. At some point, the movie is mainly about the fight between Deadpool and Wolverine, so I wonder if this movie wasn’t Deadpool vs. Wolverine. The movie takes place in the multiverse saga, but it’s still questionable whether or not it will actually appear in another future installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Overall, this film is a nostalgic reunion of fan-favorite heroes and villains, and Reynolds and Jackman give star performances worthy of joining the Avengers. The surprise appearances add to the nostalgic joy, and I hope this isn’t the last time we see some of these heroes and villains. I hope we see some of the stars return in future projects. Deadpool and Wolverine provide a thrilling 2 hours and 7 minutes, and I think Deadpool and Wolverine could top the movie charts in 2024. I grew up with the animated X-Men television series, and Wolverine has always been my favorite Marvel character. This film gave the suit an accurate fit to the comics, and I’m really grateful for that.
See it at a theater near you, and do your best not to spoil the movie for your friends. If possible, see it in 3D to get the full experience.
