Elon Musk has questioned whether the US should “liberate the British people from a tyrannical government” after attacking senior British lawmakers.
In recent days, the tech billionaire and key adviser to US President-elect Donald Trump has taken to social media to express his dissatisfaction with the British government, resulting in a war of words between the Tesla boss and British government officials.
In a series of posts on the Musk-owned X social media platform, the tech mogul attacked Britain’s Labor government, criticizing its handling of the historic child abuse scandal.
Musk on Friday accused Prime Minister Keir Starmer of being an ‘advocator of rape and genocide’, after UK Safeguarding Secretary Jess Phillips called for a series of calls for Prime Minister Keir Starmer to receive prison sentences for how child grooming gangs and other criminals who target children are prosecuted. posted a post.
Musk’s comments come after Phillips rejected calls for a government-led inquiry into child sexual exploitation in Oldham Town. Before starting his political career, Starmer served as Britain’s Director of Public Prosecutions and ran the Crown Prosecution Service during the UK’s child rape gang scandal.
Spokespeople for Starmer and Phillips were not immediately available for comment when contacted by CNBC. British Health Secretary Wes Streeting last weekend called Musk’s attack on Philips a “disgraceful slur”.
“Keir Starmer and Jess Phillips, whose criticisms are completely misguided, have done more in their professional lives than most people do to keep pedophiles, rapists, wife beaters and all the other scum of society in our prisons,” he said. He said in an interview with the BBC.
Last weekend, Musk’s criticism of the British government culminated in an opinion poll, where he pitched the idea of ”liberating the British people” to platform users.
