The NY Mets’ improbable October run was truly amazing. But without this it wouldn’t have happened. Francisco Lindor — And a Mets legend Dwight Gooden says TMZ Sports A 4x All-Star deserves a captain’s patch added to his uniform!
We caught up with Gooden, who was at Citi Field to watch Lindor hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to punch his team’s ticket to the NLCS, and asked the team’s star what was going through his mind as Lindor advanced to the finals. Yes. bowl.
“You’re just thinking. Get in touch,” Doc said. “Just don’t hit it on the ground. The problem is, before he hit a few home runs, he was too late on the fastball, so he was just hoping to make good contact.”
Contact (hard contact) was made, but Gooden wasn’t sure whether to leave the yard at first, but when he did, the stadium was in chaos.

“This guy plays every day,” he said. “And he plays a tricky position as a shortstop. From what I’ve seen and I know him personally even when he was in Cleveland, I say he definitely deserves it. But obviously that’s not my calling, it’s not about being on the outside looking in.” , I say it’s definitely him.”
While Mets fans await the Dodgers or Padres in the NLCS… if the team wins the upcoming series and the Yankees take care of business, there’s a chance they will meet their crosstown rivals once again in the World Series.
In fact, Gooden, who also played for the Yanks, was part of the 2000 WS team that demolished the boys from Queens.

“I think New York deserves it,” he said. “That could happen. No one saw that coming into the season.”
