Drake joins Toronto favorite Snowd4y on ‘Wah Gwan Delilah’, sending social media into a tizzy due to the timing of the recording.
In the aftermath of being labeled a predator on Kendrick Lamar’s chart-topping single “Not Like Us,” we all expected Drake to get back at it. After the battle, he posted that “summer vibes” were coming, and who doesn’t love summer vibes?
According to Complex, in true Drake fashion, he dropped a left-field feature on Toronto favorite Snowd4y’s “Wah Gwan Delilah.”
Although the song was intended to be fun social media, Drake was left confused as to what exactly he was trying to achieve. The Plain White T’s “Hey There Delilah” parody could be an inside joke in Toronto and we Americans won’t get it. But even if you don’t like the song, the memes make it all worth it in the end.
What makes Drake so great is his ability to blend different parts of music, but in the eyes of many, it is also his weakness. Some people think the song is a fun take on the argument that “Toronto doesn’t have its own sound.” This claim was brought to the fore by Ebro Darden during the Kendrick Lamar beef.
