It’s been a bit quiet on the Dragon Age: The Veilguard modding scene so far, unless you’re in the market for a piece that makes the game look a little darker or saves character creation time. But now things seem to be starting to change, with several new mods featuring new tools to help you do more than just that.
If you head over to the game’s Nexus Mods page today, you’ll see several works starting to appear using the alpha version of ‘Frosty Mod Manager’. The FrostyToolsuite Discord server has been put together to facilitate more in-depth modding of Veilguard.

So far, this tool has been used to create textures in the game, with some early examples of work created using this tool, including a modder replacing LexTypeC in the font in Dragon Age Origins, Izzli making some edits to the costumes, sajere1, and more. It seems to be mainly useful for tasks like switching. Use this to change the party assembly menu image for a snap that doesn’t make Davrin scream.
That said, it also looks useful in removing some of the traditional restrictions the game places on players, with modder Tellah9 removing specialization restrictions for each class and making it easier for Yeulia to max out her faction representation.
Padme4000 also had a tool to mute the little noises the dialogue wheel makes when you’re desperately searching for something before settling on the inevitably sarky option.
Now all this has stopped. It appears that Frosty Mod Manager will require you to enter an encryption key for the game. This is a very risky proposition in terms of modding. This is because the administrator’s developers could potentially find themselves in legal trouble if they are proven to be distributing material that allows people to escape EA/BioWare’s software encryption. Many of the comments on the admin’s GitHub page and these new mods discourage people from asking modders directly to provide them with the keys they need.
So, as with all mods, it’s good to know that you use this tool at your own risk. If you want to be safe, it’s definitely worth checking to see if Veilguard modders develop tools that don’t rely on things like this. There’s no guarantee that will happen, but we’ve recently seen something like a tool to unlock features in Baldur’s Gate 3’s modding toolkit.
