Former President Trump said Friday evening that he believes the “inner halls” of the White House should apologize for the New York hush-money case Trump faced and that the case should be dismissed.
“There is virtually universal agreement that the Alvin Bragg witch hunt, sham trial against me was incited and prosecuted directly from the inner halls and should be immediately dismissed, with the White House and DOJ apologizing to me and everyone else. We have had to live with crooked Joe Biden’s election interference fraud against his political opponents,” Trump said Friday on his Truth About Social sites. “not good!!!”
Trump is wrapping up another week of his trial in New York, where he is making history as the first sitting or former president to face a criminal trial.
He has pleaded not guilty to charges of falsifying business records to conceal hush money he paid to keep quiet about his alleged affair with porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
Trump has been placed under a gag order over the case, meaning his communications about the ‘sham trial’ have been restricted.
After attacking the judge’s family and others, the gag order limits what Trump can say about court proceedings and the people in them, including star witness Michael Cohen, who testified this week.
The former president won support this week from Republican lawmakers, many of whom traveled from Washington to the New York courthouse to condemn the case. They argue that this case is a case of election interference because it is a way to keep Trump out of the campaign trials and out of President Biden’s sight.
