Donald Trump Jr. said Monday he’s not particularly fond of his father’s annual New Year’s Eve party in Florida, saying the Mar-a-Lago event has become somewhat of an “amateur night” because of the attendees.
“New Years are always a little hard,” he said while streaming on Rumble, explaining that his birthday is the following day, December 31st.
“When I was a kid, New Year’s Eve was much better because it seemed like there was always something to do and there was always a party,” he added.
“But now it’s more like amateur night. … I end up with about 1,000 drunk people telling me political opinions I don’t necessarily want to hear,” he said. “I love Mar-a-Lago, but by midnight everyone is having a dozen beers or disagreeing on whatever they’re drinking. That’s not for me.”
He described himself as a “recluse” who preferred outdoor activities to large crowds.
President-elect Donald Trump hosts a celebration every year at his Palm Beach estate. It typically includes a star-studded cast including politicians, celebrities, donors and wealthy club members.
The Republican told Truth Social last week he called Mar-a-Lago “the center of the universe,” adding, “New Year’s Eve is going to be amazing!!!”

This year’s guests reportedly include Trump’s new billionaire friend Elon Musk (who appears to have been staying at the property since the election) and family members including Melania, Eric, Lara and Tiffany Trump. It is known that Vice President-elect JD Vance, Senator Ted Cruz (Republican, Texas), and Trump’s long-time ally Roger Stone were also present.
According to photos, Trump Jr. attended with his rumored new girlfriend, socialite Bettina Anderson, and was serenaded by attendees with ‘Happy Birthday’. He turned 47.
The party was expected to attract more than 300 guests, local officials previously told the Palm Beach Post.
