The first Digimon film, Digimon Adventure, was released in 1999 and featured Tai and Kari’s first encounter with the world of digital monsters. A year later, Digimon: Our War Game was released and focused on how the Digidestined must stop the evil Diaboromon from wreaking havoc on the Internet. Another Digimon film, Hurrican Touchdown, was released in 2000 and focused on the next generation of Digidestined children, an American ally, and a mysterious enemy waiting in the shadows.
Aside from the movie, the only extra content you get on this Blu-ray is the original English dub, so be prepared if you want to compare the movies.
If you’re looking to add to your Digimon collection, you can check out the original series and a few recent movies as well. The complete first season of Digimon Adventure is available on Blu-ray for $49 with all 54 episodes, and the sequel, Digimon Adventure 02, does a great job of presenting all 50 episodes in crisp 1080p. The recent movies are also interesting, and cover a time when the Digidestined have matured and moved on with their lives, but circumstances force them to reunite to face a new threat to Earth.
Digimon Blu-ray
While not as awesome as Digimon, the first Yu-Gi-Oh movie also recently came out on Blu-ray, so if you’re looking for some dddddd-duel action, it’s a fun movie to watch, condensing Yu-Gi-Oh and Seto Kaiba’s Duel Monster matches into a more manageable length instead of dozens of episodes. You can also get Steelbook editions of the first three Pokémon movies (Mewtwo Strike Back, Power of One, and Spell of Unown) for $33, or the standard Blu-rays for $17.50.
