Diddy won’t be home for the holidays.
Or maybe even later in the near future.
On Friday afternoon, a federal judge in New York denied the rapper’s request to be released on bail. The records say “by clear and convincing evidence” the mogul is potentially dangerous and “no condition or combination of conditions can reasonably ensure the rapper’s safety.” “Community.”
This is the fourth time Didi has applied for bail and the fourth time it has been denied.
As reported by multiple media outlets on November 27, Judge Arun Subramanian ruled that “there is compelling evidence of Combs’ propensity for violence,” including video obtained by CNN from a 2016 Intercontinental Hotel incident with his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. The court decided.
The video, detailed by The Hollywood Gossip, shows Diddy kicking and attacking Cassie.
Diddy’s legal team tried to argue that the video was edited (despite Diddy previously apologizing for the horrific actions), but the judge simply said, “There is clearly violence in the version of the video Combs submitted as well.”
Along with the potential for violence, Diddy was recently accused of witness tampering in prison.
Prosecutors argued Friday that Combs’ attempts to influence witnesses (through phone calls and threats) while he was in jail were “impeding” his criminal case.
They also pointed to the musician’s “efforts to influence the panel of judges” through a social media campaign organized by his children.
On November 8, Diddy formally requested to be released from the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center, arguing that because of changed circumstances and new evidence, he should be able to prepare for his May 2025 trial outside prison.
Didi’s lawyers proposed a “much stronger” $50 million bail package, including provisions such as full-time security monitoring, home detention and limited contact with people outside the legal team.
As you probably know by now, Diddy was arrested on charges of prostitution and racketeering last September.
In subsequent federal indictments, the public learned damning details about alleged eccentric parties involving sex workers, drugs, threats of violence, and other ways Diddy allegedly abused and assaulted female executives.
In his fourth bail request, the rapper proposed home confinement in his three-bedroom Upper East Side apartment, but the judge was unwilling to grant it, saying:
“Given the nature of the allegations in this case and the information provided by the government, the court doubts whether sufficient conditions exist for Combs and his employees to comply with these conditions, such as a personal security detail.”
In his decision, Subramanian cited “evidence supporting a serious risk of witness tampering,” including violations of prison rules such as Combs’ calls and texts with witnesses and his use of phone access codes from other inmates at MDC-Brooklyn.
