Portland Sons signed a club option with Venezuela’s national team Dana Castellanos by 2026.
Castellanos played at Bay FC last season. She and the club decided to break up with each other, making the 25 -year -old midfielder a FA.
“For me, Portland was definitely one of the biggest options. I’m very happy to be a member of the club,” she said in an interview with the Associated Press before Friday’s official announcement. “So it’s very interesting for me, so I really expect to come here and shine.”
Castellanos, who transferred from Manchester City to Bay FC, played 12 starts in 25 games in the San Francisco region team. At the time she scored two goals and one assist.
Castellanos played in the city for two seasons and joined the Women’s Super League Club after playing at Atletico Madrid, Spain.
She scored 22 goals and 15 assists in 38 games in the Venezuela national team.

CASTELLANOS has advocated women’s football through the “Queen DeNA Program”, which helps young athletes, including players from their home country and guitar Latin America, can receive university education. Castellanos said the program has already helped 44 players.
CASTELLANOS was a member of the Florida State Team, which won the national title in 2018. She scored 47 goals in 77 games while she was a career at Seminoles.
