Most owners of the new National Women’s Soccer League team in Denver say they plan to build a dedicated soccer stadium for the club.
On Thursday, the League officially won the 16th NWSL team and started the game in 2026, which will be the first female team in the city.
Sportico reported that this team was acquired by the US $ 110 million US expansion fee. Most of the team’s owners are IMA Financial Group CEO Robert Cohen.
Cohen told the Associated Press ahead of a press conference on Thursday. “Denver is an amazing sports town. I have been involved in Denver’s sports fabrics for a long time. But perhaps we are the largest city in the United States without women’s teams. It’s time for us to modify it.”
Cohen did not check the expansion fee. He said the club is not ready to share details about the planned stadiums and training facilities, including the site.
“We want to create a franchise that all players want to play here. All coaches want coaches here and all executives want to work here, and the way we can do is to build a first -class facility. Cohen is from the perspective of a dedicated stadium. “We are willing to invest to do so.”
Cohen has a preliminary experience in sports. He starts the Denver Sports Commission and strives to bring sports events to the city. He was a founding member of the US Olympic and Disabled Olympic Foundation and was at the bidding committee for the 2034 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.
The ownership group includes Melody Hobson, a subsidiary of Ariel Investments, led by Chicago-Firm’s president and co-CEO. Others in this group include Kuvare founder DHIREN Jhaveri and his wife Neelima Joshi and Molson Coors Beverage Company’s Molly Coors.

Cohen will work as a NWSL governor and Hobson will be an alternative governor.
There are 14 teams in Professional Women’s Soccer League. Boston’s club will join Denver to drive out next year.
Only other teams, Kansas City Curent, have a NWSL club -only stadium.
NWSL added Utah and Bay FC in 2024. The Boston team ownership group paid $ 55 million, the same as Bay FC. NWSL started with eight teams in 2013.
Cleveland and Cincinnati groups were also competing for the team.
Jessica Berman, a member of the NWSL committee, said the league is still expanding in the first media day in the league.
“Some of the efforts for the next three to six months are to develop the next expansion strategy to use the amazing demand for the expansion team, and to actually develop the next expansion strategy to maintain the balance of other upward levels of the system. Berman said.
“So we want to be active in expansion, but we want to make a decision to become the world’s best league through strategic and smart and lens and vision.”
