Liverpool fans have been eagerly awaiting a fresh update on our progress with Martin Zubimendi and now the news has arrived for all of us.
David Ornstein reported via his X account: ‘Liverpool are continuing their push to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
‘Players going the other way are not the focus of the conversation at the moment. The structure of the deal, #LFC’s efforts to convince the 25-year-old to leave and #Sociedad’s efforts to keep the midfielder will further delay this.’

It shows that Richard Hughes still has a lot of work to do to get this deal done and bring in Arn Slot as the new manager.
The Real Sociedad player appears to be the perfect choice for the number 6 position and we have therefore started to approach him in order to meet his buyout clause.
With his two midfield colleagues at San Sebastian (Mikel Merino and John Gorochategui) being linked with a sale or transfer, there may have been concerns that we might not be able to sign him.

But this update from a journalist working for The Athletic suggests that our biggest concern now is convincing the player, not finding a way for his parent club to replace him.
If the Reds win this summer’s Euros, we feel like we are at a crucial stage in the negotiations.
