Roma manager Daniele De Rossi has commented on the changes his team has undergone this summer.
After Roma’s 0-1 defeat to Toulouse, De Rossi spoke to the press about his new tactical setup, squad changes and transfers.
“There’s nothing that particularly stands out to me so far, everything is normal. It’s been an intense pre-season. I’m just working hard to get better, that’s all.”
“There’s a lot of rapport with our staff. We’re waiting for the players to respond more in the next few days.”
“It’s all pretty clear now. I asked one player what it was like when he turned 70, and he said that at first it was like dying, and there was nothing strange or surprising. It was expected.”
“Dybala as a false 9? That’s the solution because we have in mind the idea of bringing in a winger who can cut into the box or talk to him.”
“Dybala can do that role as long as the team follows him,” he added.
“Mikautadze? You can’t talk about players from other clubs. I don’t know how right it is to talk about the merits of a positive call to that boy, but there is no need to talk about the non-tactical or content of that call.”
“What about the future of Abraham and Bob? Tammy is a strong player and an important player. He is an important player and he has a lot of market because he has recovered. I have seen him over the last six months and he has come back from a very serious injury.”
“I know what we saw was not the real Tammy and we want to focus on strong players. The same goes for Bovet. I evaluate them, watch them in training, talk to the manager, look at the opportunities the market and the demand of players can give us. Because they often want more space and complain. I have to understand that and accept it.”
“Sometimes, if you want to sign someone, you have to sell someone first. Who goes and who stays depends on the opportunities that present themselves in July and August. How do you take advantage of them?”
“We want to improve the team and we are working with the club to try and bring more quality to this team.”
“It would be wrong to make a judgment now. Of course, there are players missing and there are positions to fill, but I feel that strong players will come and the team will be strong on September 1.”
“This is a long-term project and we can’t have everything right away. I also want to sign 10 players at once, but that’s not possible and we have to be patient. What’s certain is that the team will be strong on September 1.”
