In May, we announced a new kind of device: the Copilot+ PC. It’s the fastest, most intelligent Windows PC ever, featuring a new system architecture designed to deliver best-in-class performance, battery life, and groundbreaking AI experiences that help people be more productive, creative, and connected.
Today marks the next step in our journey as we expand our Copilot+ PC portfolio with the introduction of new silicon technologies, AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series and Intel Core Ultra 200V Series. This growth underscores our commitment to innovation that delivers leading AI experiences, fast performance, long battery life, seamless connectivity, enhanced security, and personalized productivity to our customers.
The first innovations in Copilot+ PCs are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus in PCs designed by ecosystem partners such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, and Surface. Snapdragon X Elite delivers the exceptional performance customers expect, outperforming the MacBook Air M3 platform by up to 58%(1).
We’ve seen incredible energy and momentum around the Copilot+ PC, and customers have told us that the performance and battery life are exceeding their expectations. The Copilot+ PC also offers industry-leading Wi-Fi 7 and chip-to-cloud security with Microsoft Pluton. Developers are building amazing experiences that leverage neural processing unit (NPU) technology, and we have more to come. We’re inspired by our customers’ stories about how they’re engaging with new AI experiences like Live Captions with translation, helping them communicate with friends and family in multiple languages, or how Paint’s Cocreator is helping people unleash their creativity and bring their ideas to life.
Today, we all multitask when we use our PCs for work, school, or play. We have double-digit browser tabs that we dread closing, multiple applications open, and complex tasks running simultaneously. The ability to balance short bursts of work with long-running tasks is essential for a fast, responsive experience, and Copilot+ PCs deliver it all. These PCs are incredibly responsive, so you can stay productive even on the busiest days, and you don’t usually have to compromise battery life for performance. And with over 90% of your time spent on basic experiences (2), including popular apps like Chrome, Zoom, Brave, Photoshop, Opera, Slack, Spotify, Private Internet Access, Surfshark, Windscribe, OpenVPN, and many more, you can be sure that you’ll experience the optimal performance you expect from a Copilot+ PC.
We are leveraging Copilot+ PCs together with our ecosystem partners.
AMD and Intel have delivered next-generation improvements to Ryzen AI 300 and Intel Core Ultra 200v processors. With our deep co-engineering partnership and updates in Windows 11, Copilot+ PCs powered by these next-generation AMD and Intel silicon will fully realize these hardware improvements, delivering meaningful advancements across performance, battery life, security, and connectivity. For AI, we will continue to innovate by introducing new features, devices, and platforms that deliver new experiences for our customers. This focus and pace of innovation means that some features will be previewed first by the Windows Insider Community before they are broadly available on Copilot+ PCs. Eligible AMD and Intel-based devices will see the new AI experiences via free Windows Updates starting in November(3).
Features included in the free update:
- Live subtitles with translation
- Windows Studio Effects (Background Effects: Standard Blur, People Blur, Eye Contact, and Auto Framing)
- Co-creator of Paint
- Photo: Restyle image and Image Creator
As previously shared, Recall will be rolling out first to the Windows Insider Community starting in October.
The new era of AI PCs is driving rapid innovation for our customers, centered around productivity, creativity, and security. We are bringing an unprecedented number of Copilot+ PC designs to market, and we look forward to exciting announcements from our partners at IFA this week. Stay tuned for updates and join us as we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible with Copilot+ PCs.
